(MIGS) & iStent®
MIGS (Minimally Invasive Glaucoma Surgery) is a modern approach to management of glaucoma that safely lowers the intraocular pressure with less risk and faster recovery compared to traditional glaucoma surgery.
One of the most common MIGS procedures is the iStent®, one of the world’s smallest medical implants. The iStent is a tiny titanium implant that allows the long-term drainage of the eye’s aqueous fluid. It is usually implanted during cataract surgery, adding only a few minutes to operation time. It is an excellent treatment option for mild to moderate glaucoma, where it allows reduction of need for glaucoma drops after cataract surgery.
